December 2017 Sightings

29 Dec:  There were five Turnstones on the rocks at the Foreshore.

 

27 Dec:  The Kingfisher was seen again in the vicinity of Watergardens.  A Redwing was photographed drinking at the fountain at the Botanic Gardens.

26 Dec:  A Kingfisher was present at Ocean Village.

 

20 Dec:  Mainly clear skies with some levanter cloud over the Rock.  Winds moderate easterly.  A Dartford Warbler was present on the Tamarix bushes at Europa Point.

 

16 Dec:  Clear skies with a light easterly wind.  The Common Buzzard was seen hunting over the Mount gardens.

 

15 Dec:  Overcast skies as a frontal system passed over southern Spain.  Light rain and drizzle at times.  Winds fresh westerly.  A flock of approximately 200 White Storks headed north over the Rock mid afternoon.

12 Dec: Mainly clear skies in the morning with a north-westerly wind.  A Black Stork was seen flying north over the Rock.

 

11 Dec:  A Dartford Warbler was seen in the Tamarix bushes at Europa Point.  About some 30 Black-headed Gulls were present below the Point, together with up to 5 Mediterranean Gulls.  A White Stork was seen heading east chased by Yellow-legged Gulls.

 

9 Dec:  A Kingfisher was seen inside the harbour this morning.  It was photographed by Ian Bensusan.

8 Dec:  Clear skies with a light westerly wind.  The Common Buzzard that has been wintering over Gibraltar in the last few weeks was being chased by Yellow-legged Gulls low over Ragged Staff gates mid morning.
