Bird Sightings June 2026
30 Jun: Clear skies with a moderate easterly wind.
A White Wagtail was seen at Sandy Bay. Two Spotted Flycatchers, a Robin and 10 House Sparrows were observed at the Saluting Battery promenade. A Lesser Black-backed Gull was observed by Europa Advance road.
29 Jun: Clear skies with a north-westerly at dawn, but becoming light variable with fog coming from the east over Windmill Hill and airport, and levanter cloud forming over the Rock. Clear in the afternoon with a moderate easterly wind.
24 Cory's Shearwaters, five Balearic Shearwaters and five Mediterranean Gulls heading west at Europa Point. Two White Wagtails were observed feeding on Windmill Hill and then heading down to Europa Advance, with the possibility of a nesting pair.
A walk around the Alameda Botanic gardens produced the following:-

28 Jun: Clear skies with a moderate westerly wind.
Five Ravens were observed over the Rock, that indicate a sucessful breeding with two young reared.
27 Jun: Clear skies with a light to moderate westerly wind.
A Corn Bunting was seen in the vicinity of Princess Caroline's Battery.

A ringed Griffon Vulture was found drowned off Camp Bay.
26 Jun: Clear skies with a light westerly wind.
A Great Tit was present in the area of Trafalgar Heights estate.
A Zitting Cisticola was observed at Europa Point, and offshore there were 40 Cory's Shearwaters and three immature Gannets. In the evening a Tawny Owl was seen at Devil,s Gap battery.
Three Griffon Vultures flew north over the Rock.
25 Jun: A flock of 61 Flamingoes flew west over the airfield and towards the Palmones estuary.
A Grey Heron was seen over mid Harbours Marina.
24 Jun: Two Booted Eagles, a dark morph and a light morph were seen over the Nature Reserve.
23 Jun: Three Jackdaws were present at the Tower of Homage.
21 Jun: Mainly clear skies with a light easterly wind.
A Puffin was observed off the east side of the Rock.
20 Jun: A Booted Eagle was observed around Devil's Gap Battery.
A Tawny Owl was heard calling in the St. Joseph area.
19 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock, town and harbour in a moderate easterly wind.
Commonwealth Park held a Feral Pigeon, three Collared Doves, seven Blackbirds, three Spotted Flycatchers and 20 House Sparrows.
18 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock, town and harbour in a moderate easterly wind.
17 Jun: Some levanter cloud ion the morning, clearing to give sunny intervals. Winds moderate easterly.

A new colony of Alpine Swifts has been discovered.
16 Jun: Overcast skies with a moderate westerly wind.
There was a Melodious Warbler present at North Front cemetery.
Two Griffon Vultures were seen, with one mobbed by Yellow-legged Gulls and downed at Morrisons carpark, where it was rescued by the Raptor Rehabilitation Unit.

A Tawny Owl was heard calling in the KGV area.
15 Jun: Mainly clear skies with a moderate to fresh westerly wind.
A flock of 13 Glossy Ibises were observed heading south-east over the Bay.
Five Griffon Vultures were observed today over the Rock.
A White Wagtail was seen by Buena Vista barracks road.
14 Jun: Clear skies with a light variable turning to light to moderate westerly winds by midday.
Seven Honey Buzzards, two Short-toed Eagles, a Booted Eagle and two Black Kites were observed over the Rock.
A Flamingo was seen over Europa Point.
13 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock and town, in a moderate easterly wind.
A Jackdaw was seen in Main Street. The light morph Booted Eagle was mobbed by a local Kestrel in the Nature Reserve.
12 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock, town and harbour clearing in the afternoon to give sunny intervals. Winds moderate easterly.
The Spotted Flycatcher was present at the Saluting Battery promenade. Another two Spotted Flycatchers were seen in the Alameda Botanic Gardens.
There were seven Shags at Little Bay, and a White Wagtail at Camp Bay.
A survey of occupied nests by the Department of the Environment at Four Corners estate, has found 89 House Martins with artificial and natural nests used. Also present was a Spotted Flycatcher.
11 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock, town and harbour in the morning, with sunny intervals in the afternoon. Winds fresh easterly with strong gusts.
A White Wagtail was present at Europa Point.
10 Jun: Fog at dawn with low levanter cloud over the Rock, town and harbour. Winds light to moderate easterly.

09 Jun: Clear skies with a light variable to moderate south-westerly in the Strait.
Three Common Swifts, 32 Pallid Swifts, 47 Cory's Shearwaters and 80 Balearic Shearwaters were seen from Europa Advance road.
Two Honey Buzzards and a White Wagtail were seen over Rosia bay. Another two Honey Buzzards were seen in the afternoon with a Booted Eagle hunting in the Nature Reserve.
08 Jun: Clear skies with a light variable to moderate westerly in the Strait.
A Spotted Flycatcher was present along the Saluting Battery promenade.
An immature White Wagtail was present around Europa Point. A Red-rumped Swallow was observed around Gibraltar Airport.
07 Jun: Levanter cloud over the Rock in the morning, clearing in the afternoon. Winds moderate to light south-easterly.
A Tawny Owl was seen in the Mount gardens. Two Blue Tits, two Blackcaps a Blackbird and a Spotted Flycatcher were observed along Queen's road.
A Red-rumped Swallow and a Booted Eagle were seen around the Arengo's area.
06 Jun: Heavy levanter and fog from the east, overcast all morning, but some sunny intervals, albeit with high cloud after midday when winds turned to south-easterly.
Two Griffon Vultures flew north in the morning. A Crested Lark flew along the frontier fence. The habitat on the Spanish side of the fence is being cleared for the La Linea fair, and may have disrupted a nesting pair.
North Front cemetery held a Reed Warbler and a Spotted Flycatcher.

There were five White Storks along the east side of the Rock. A trickle of raptors with two Griffon Vultures, a Honey Buzzard, three Short-toed Eagles and seven Booted Eagles.
Three Mediterranean Gulls flew west past Europa Point.
04 Jun: Clear skies with a moderate to fresh south-westerly wind.
A trickle of raptors throughout the day with four Griffon Vultures, 12 Honey Buzzards, a Short-toed Eagle, five Booted Eagle, 11 Black Kites and a Hobby. Also seen was a Black Stork.
03 Jun: Clear skies a moderate south-westerly, but fresh in the Strait.
